Dreifaltigkeitskirche - Trinity Church

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche, or Trinity Church, is a significant church in Salzburg's "Neustadt" near Linzergasse, on the right side of the River Salzach. Designed by Fischer von Erlach, who also created the Kollegienkirche and Markuskirche, it features a central dome, a playful façade, and two towers, giving it a palace-like appearance.

Built between 1694 and 1702 on the orders of Prince Archbishop Johan Ernst von Thun, the church was inspired by Roman architecture and houses a renowned dome painting by Johann Michael Rottmayr depicting the coronation of the Virgin Mary with the Holy Trinity.

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche looks equally interesting when you approach it from the side, due to the inset entrance and face between the towers. The reason for this design is simply because of the old pawn house that blocked a direct view at the time the Dreifaltigkeitskirche had been constructed.
