Sometimes I like horsing around with my software and software extensions. This time it was the Gimp's turn and the fractal extension.
What are Fractals?
Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are pictures of dynamic systems – the images of Chaos.
From time to time I like to experiment a little with some of thousands of tools out there to create interesting effects. Software is one of these tools and fractals are a fascinating thing to look into. In this case I used the fractal explorer and the IFS fractal plugin of the Gimp, to create some lovely images.
Quite like Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion, one needs to find the cosmic balance between the forces of Order and Chaos to get a nice fractal picture.
